Levski survived in Pleven

In a dramatic and interesting game Levski recorded sixth straight win this season. Today in Pleven against the local Spartak "The Blues" won very difficult. Levski needed an overtime but still came out with a 105-100 win.

Levski had the stronger start and was up 29-17 after the first quarter as Aaron Harper had 14 points. In the second quarter thanks to Hrisimir Dimitrov and by the poor defense of Levski the hosts managed to tie the game. However the visitors again pulled ahead, this time by 9 points, but after the first half the score was 47-50.

After the break Levski still was ahead and near the end of the third quarter had a 9-point lead. Then Dimitrov completed a 3-point play and the score before the last 10 minutes was 68-74.

Spartak started the last quarter on a high and had 5-0 run in 50 seconds. Then the hosts took their first lead of the game at 81-79. In the last minute they were up 90-87 but missed their chance and Bobby Frazer tied the game. Then both teams missed oppurtinites to score and win and the game went to overtime.

In the extra time Levski played a little bit better and after the team took a 5-point lead managed to keep it until the end.

Aaron Harper was the top scorer in this game with 30 points. He added also 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Donald Cole also had a good game with 29 points and 6 rebounds.

For the hosts Hrisimir Dimitrov showed his great qualities and finished with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists after his return from injury. Joe Kennerly added 20 points and 7 rebounds while Rob Preston 19 and 5.

Now Levski will travel to Romania to play against Steaua in the Balkan league and the next saturday will travel to Pravets to meet Lukoil Academic. Spartak will host Rilski Sportist in the next round but before that will visit Feni in Kavadarci also for the Balkan league.
