Russia came out on top this time

European champion Russia took revenge on Bulgaria for the loss yesterday. In front of 1500 spectators in Sofia the visitors took a good 89-62 win.
From the first minutes it became clear that the game would be different from the previous one. Russia went in front with a 10-0 start and never gave up the lead. The visitors continued to have a double digit advantage just until the final minutes of the first half when a triple by Todor Stoykov capped a 12-2 run for Bulgaria that made the score 33-42 at the half.
After the break the hosts managed to cut the deficit to only 4 points, 43-47, but Russia finished the third quarter on a 12-2 run and took 14-point lead in to the last quarter. The difference in points was around 15 for most of the time but in the final minutes the Bulgarians really gave up and that allowed the visitors to increase their advantage to 27 points at the end.
Todor Stoykov was the top scorer for Bulgaria today with 18 points as Filip Videnov added 18 and 9 boards. E.J. Rowland also performed good with his 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Timofey Mozgov was very strong under both baskets and was hard to defend. He finished the game with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Sergey Bykov scored 18 while Sergey Monya added 14 points.
