Shy Shtriks: No way for Pini to join Romania
22-01-2010 11:13
After the articles in the Romanian media that their is a possibility that Pini Gershon could become a technical director of the national team we looked for the opinion of the person who practically brought Pini in Bulgaria - the former referee and now Sports Director of Eurohold Balkan league Shy Shtriks.
"Those articles are not true. Pini has no connection and there is no way he will work for Romania. The only person who might be connected to them is the coach Dan Shamir" said Shtriks for BulgarianBasket.com. "I have a persistent contact with Gershon, recently I came back from Israe where I was a commissioner of Maccabi and Hapoel game. After all that happenned in recent weeks I would like that every time when he comes back to Bulgaria, to see smiles on people's faces. Just like it was at the beginning when Pini came here for first time. I'm sure that a lot of people have great impressions from him. Despite the differencies, Gershon wants to keep his good relationship with the country. Pini Gershon is a treasure that every nation would like to have. But I guarantee you that he has no offer from Romania and it was never a question for him to have any job there."
The romanian basketball is one level below Bulgarian. The national team is in Division B and have no chance to play at Eurobasket in Lithuania. The Romanians will fight to enter the top division where from long time is the Bulgarian NT.
