The coach of Bulgaria's Men National team, Konstantin  Papazov, said in TV appearance that he will run for mayor of capital Sofia in October's local elections.
Papazov will become the first challenger to the current major Boyko Borisov, who said earlier in interview that he has no real opponent in the run for a second term of major position in Sofia.

Papazov was a part of the committee that nominated Socialist president Georgi Parvanov for a second term last year. In front of TV cameras he dismissed the media speculation from the previous days, which said he will come as a nominee of either the Socialists or rightist party Democrats for Strong Bulgaria.

His nomination most likely will come from Democratic party but Papazov said he expect all rightist-leaning voters in the city to be on his side.
The real nomination of Papazov will be announced on Thursday, right after Bulgaria's last qualification game for Eurobasket 2007 versus Hungary tomorrow night. Bulgaria still has a slim chance to get among the best teams of European championship in Spain next month but Bulgaria need to win and in the same time hope Hungary will beat Bosnia and Hercegovina in the last encounter in Cazin (Bosnia) this coming Saturday.
