Lukoil Academic started the season in a nice way

Champion of Bulgaria, Lukoil Academic showed in its first game that will not have any competition this year in the country. "The students" started the new season with convincing 96-61 win over CSKA Interlogic. They dominated the game from first to last and were making beautiful plays for the audience.
The game started excellent for Lukoil Academic who imposed their style of play at the beginning. With great team defense and good counterattacks they gained solid advantage after one quarter, 24-7. In the second things on court didn't change. Dante Smith impressed the people with some nice dunks and good impression in that minutes made the youngster Dimitar Philipov. The difference went up by only six points and the score after the first half was 26-49.
The second half started once again with better play from the visitors. Anyway they didn't push themselves so hard as in the first quarter but that didn't stop them from increasing again their lead. After three quarters it was 30 points, 76-46. The last quarter was mostly for the record and the only question was if Lukoil Academic could reach the 100 points. They didn't succeed in doing that and ended with 96 compared to CSKA's 61. In the last minutes of the game their debut for the team made the youngsters Kalin Hristov, Yovcho Atanasov and Kaloyan Prokopiev.
Pero Antic showed in this game that he will be one of the leaders of the team this season. He ended up with 28 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Todor Stoykov and Petroslav Zafirov were the next best scorers with 19 and 16 points respectively. For CSKA Interlogic the captain Georgi Davidov and Mike Henderson finished as best scorers with 14 points each.
In the next round Lukoil Academic will host Spartak Pleven in Pravets while CSKA Interlogic will meet Balkan Botevgrad in Hristo Botev Hall on Sunday.
