The men’s national team head coach Pini Gershon decided to choose Titi Papazov and Lubo Minchev for his assistants. The Israelian with Bulgarian roots was categorical that for him this is by far the best choice, because he wants one experienced and one younger perspective specialist beside him.

“I already saw recordings of some of the players who play abroad and also of the Bulgarian U20 national team”, said Gershon at a special press-conference before he left Bulgaria.

“For 48 hours I’ve heard enough”, snapped the specialist and he added, that he plans to organise a coach’s seminar in Bulgaria during his stays in the country. That may happen before or after the Bulgarian Cup Final Four in Samokov. “I believe that I can help Bulgarian basketball with more than just coaching the national team. I attended a practice and saw the HDI All Star Game yesterday. We tried to make some decisions. The preparatory camp starts in June. Soon we’ll decide who will be there. I saw some of the players and the final decision will concern the American with Bulgarian passport”, said Gershon.

“Everyone was expecting me to decide quickly about my assistants. I’m trying to build a good team together with the people from the federation. We took that decision and I hope it’s the correct one. I’ll be here for as long as it takes and I believe my assistants will help me when I’m not”, stated Pini Gershon regarding his choice.
