Quite a few clubs from the countries, which are to be represented in the newly-formed Balkan League (BIBL), have already expressed their interest in being part of it. Until the end of the current month the Basketball Federations of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Romania and Serbia will have to each pick 2 teams to represent them in the League in its inaugural season. The teams in the running for now are: Swisslion Takovo and Mega Aqua Monta from Serbia, Feni Industries and Rabotnicki Skopje from Macedonia, Olympia Larissa and PAOK from Greece, Rapid and Dynamo Bucharest from Romania. Yet, noting is decided.

Teams interested in representing Bulgaria include Lukoil Academic, Balkan Botevgrad, Cherno more, Levski and CSKA. Which two of them will be chosen, the Bulgarian Federation will decide immediately after the Playoffs 2008 finish - i.e. after this Wednesday, when the third and last game for the bronze between Levski and Spartak Pleven will be played.

Until the end of this month the board of directors of the Balkan League will recieve the suggestions from the Federations, and after that will determine the teams to take part. On the 6th and 7th of June the draw for the group stage will be held in Sofia. As already announced, the groups will have 5 teams apiece and every participating nation will have a team in each group.
