Daniel Dimitrov is the new coach Cherno More Eurohold, the club announced today, just 5 days after Dimitrov turned 41 year old. A week ago Spas Natov turned in his resignation and now the club from Varna has decided to put faith in yet another young coach.

Daniel Dimitrov was born on 15 May 1967 in the town of Dimitrovgrad. As a player he was known for his great middle and long range shooting. He played for the Bulgarian national team and took part in 2 European Championships (1991 in Italy - 8-th place, 1993 in Germany - 16-th place). At club level he played for Bulgarian clubs CSKA Sofia, Cherno More Varna, Academic Sofia, Levski Sofia and Spartak Evronis MVR. His coaching career began as and assistant to Georgi Mladenov in Spartak (2004/05) and a season later he was already the playing head coach. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he moved to the city of Rouse to coach A1 Division newcomers Dunav. Last year he returned to the capital Sofia to work with the young team of Slavia in the second tier.

Here is what he told BulgarianBasket.com straight after his appointment to the Varna job:
"It was an offer I couldn't reject. Both Simeon Varchev and Asen Hristov have done a lot for me in the past and I have a duty towards them. I just talked to Mr Varchev and now I feel I have to work for Cherno more and do my best. He personally offered me the job and I was honored to accept it. A main priority in the upcoming season will be the developing of even more young talent within the first team. That's all I can say for now. It still reamains for me to talk with the club management about team selection and which players will get their contracts extended. Pre-season training will most probably start in the beginning of August."
