The Bulgarian Cup holder Lukoil Academic qualified for the Final Four in this year’s edition of the tournament, after defeating Spartak Pleven 92-77 as guests, on Friday. That way they won the series 2-0 and are going to travel to Samokov for the finals.

Lukoil started the game extremely motivated and by the end of the first quarter they were already leading 30-13. An 8-0 run brought the hosts back into the game in the second quarter but until the end they never looked like winning or getting any closer than this. The referees also had a fault for that, because they obviously supported the guests in some crucial moments, mostly during the second half of the game.

After his terrible performance against Dynamo Moscow on Tuesday, the Macedonian Pero Antic scored 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Lukoil. His teammate Larry O’Bannon also played well, adding 19 points.

Sasa Topchov was ill and couldn’t participate in the game, but the good news for Spartak was the returning of Bozo Barac, who scored 16 points. Hrisimir Dimitrov once again was the top scorer for his team with 17 points.

At the semi-finals at „Arena Samokov” next Tuesday, Lukoil Academic is going to play against CSKA at 20:00, while two hours earlier is the game between Levski and Cherno More, which promises to be far more interesting and contested.
