Spartak Pleven will travel to Varna for another game for bronze medals in Men Playoffs 2007. The team of coach Darin Velikov tied the score as they beat Cherno More IG 75 – 70 in front of their fans in Pleven.
Spartak Pleven started very strong but lost control of the game in the closing moments. With 10 seconds to go in the game and score 71 – 70 Hrisimir Dimitrov missed two free throws but Sasa Topchov got offensive rebound. However instead of keeping the ball he try to put it back and couldn’t make it. Leven Belberov got the ball but travel and missed the last chance to end the series in Pleven for the visitors. Dimitrov didn’t miss any of his free throws until the end and pushed the series to third game next week.
Hrisimir Dimitrov led the home team with 28 while american Ed McCants added 17 points. Both players added 7 rebounds apiece.For the visitors the most active as usual lately was their big guy Aleksandar Bojic. Serbian ended with another double double performance – 27 points and 12 boards.
After missing the first game in Varna Iliya Stankov came back to finish in double figures – 10 points. Three former Cherno More IG players, twin brothers Deyan and Kaloyan Ivanov’s attended the game together with Asen Velikov.
Third game from the series is scheduled for coming Tuesday in Varna. After the end of the game Men 65th championship in Bulgaria will be officially closed.
