ULEB Cup discuss proposal to expand
The assembly of the Union of European Basketball Leagues (ULEB), meeting here on Thursday, has unanimously decided to continue studying in greater detail a proposal to expand the ULEB Cup and to find out the level of interest from European teams to participate in the competition starting next season.
This decision has been made after several attempts to discuss the proposal with FIBA Europe, having submitted it to them two years ago and that FIBA Europe have refused to discuss. The assembly, which brought together the majority of Europe's participating basketball leagues, reached a unanimous consensus on this decision.
The final format for the next ULEB Cup season will be announced once this study has been completed. The ULEB Cup was founded in 2002 and has completed five seasons of competition to date.
