Jordi Trias - MVP of last round in Euroleague
One interesting aspect of the final games of the 2007-08 Euroleague regular season turned out to be that scorers were not the biggest individual protagonists. A monster rebounding night was required to be among the highest-ranked performers in Week 14, and the player with the most became the last weekly MVP of regular season.
Jordi Trias of AXA F.C. Barcelona amassing a performance index rating of 36 in his team's 65-69 road win against Brose Baskets. Trias is perhaps the first weekly MVP ever to score in single digits. He had 9 points on 4-for-6 two-point shooting, but blew away some tough competition on the boards by pulling an amazing 20 rebounds, tying the sixth-most collected in any Euroleague game this decade. His 8 offensive rebounds matched the third-highest single game total. Trias also had 6 assists, a steal, 2 blocks and 4 fouls drawn for a 36 index.
Travis Watson of AJ Milano and Marcus Fizer of Maccabi Elite each posted a 33 index rating, also helped largely by rebounds. Watson had 18 points on 7-for-12 two-point shooting, made his only three-point try, pulled 16 rebounds and made 7 steals in a losing effort against Le Mans in Milano's final Euroleague game this season.
Meanwhile, Fizer had 28 points, making 9 of 14 two-pointers and 10 of 12 free throws, while adding 11 rebounds and 7 fouls drawn to help Maccabi beat Aris TT Bank 94-101 in overtime.
Willie Solomon of Fenerbahce Ulker and Pape Badiane of Chorale Roanne, each with a 31 index, completed the top individual performances this week.
