The Top 16 not only started with thrillers and buzzer-beaters all around the continent, but also brought a new Euroleague defensive record. Montepaschi Siena collected 29 steals in a 71-54 home win against Partizan Igokea, more than any other team ever in the competition's history.
In fact, Montepaschi also owned the previous record with 27 steals in a regular season home win against Buducnost on February 13, 2003.
Bootsy Thornton collected 8 steals himself against Partizan on Thursday, tying him for the fourth-most by one player in a Euroleague game. Ksistof Lavrinovic, Terrell McIntyre and Shaun Stonerook each added 5 steals apiece of Montepaschi's total against Partizan.
