Lukoil Neftochimic is the first finalist for ”Ledenika” Cup
The game was stopped for about 25 minutes at the end of the first quarter. The reason for that was a leakage from the roof of the new “Arena Samokov” but thanks to the immediate actions taken by the staff all was fixed and the game continued.
The game started very surprisingly as Beroe 07 took the lead by 6 points but Lukoil Neftochimic answered quickly with a 13-0 run and in the seventh minute they were already leading by 7. At the end of the first quarter the result was 22-11 for the team from Bourgas.
In the 18th minute the lead reached 17 points (34-17) but the team from Stara Zagora managed to cut the lead to only 10 before the half time break (35-25) through an 8-1 run mostly thanks to Zlatina Kaloferova.
Beroe 07’s players didn’t give up easily and even cut Lukoil Neftochimic’s lead to only 4 points in the 28th minute after two consecutive baskets by Zhanet Zhelyova. From that moment on Petko Marinov’s players were more concentrated and without making any more mistakes managed to win the game and qualify for the final.
For Beroe 07 Albena Bachkova finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. She was supported by Zhanet Zhelyova who scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds but also made 7 mistakes. One of the best players for Beroe 07 that year, Ralitsa Naneva, didn’t participate in the game because of a swollen knee but she hopes to be able to play tomorrow for the bronze medals. Beroe 07 used only 6 players in their rotation throughout the game.
