Travis Peterson signs a new deal with Rilski Sportist
American center Travis Peterson signed an extention to his contract and will play at Rilski Sportist at least until the end of the 2009/10 season. At a press conference today the player and his club officially inked the new deal, according to Rilski Sportist's official website.
The 208-cm tall American was quick to conquer the hearts of the fans in Arena Samokov after his arrival in August last year and he became a key part of the team. He has been among the best players in the Bulgarian league this season and his fine performances have convinced the club management to keep him for next season too.
The Glendale, AZ native is just 23 and in his first year as a professional. In 20 official games with the Rilski Sportist jersey he has posted averages of 18.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg in 32.5 minutes per game. His average efficiency rating of 21.1 is the best among active players in the Bulgarian National Basketball League. In Eurohold Balkan League games he is even better, having made 22.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg in 6 games for Rilski Sportist.
Peterson's good play is one of the main reasons for the successful season of the Samokov team so far, having won 13 out of the 20 games they've played.
The club management of Rilski Sportist is hopeful that Travis Peterson will continue his great performances and will keep progressing and playing even better, to the delight of basketball fans in Samokov.
