Difficult victory for Levski

[b]Levski[/b] overcame [b]Cherno More IG[/b] 84:70 in the first game of the Men Playoffs 2007 Quarterfinals in front of more than 900 spectators in Universiada Hall in Sofia. The “Blues” and the “Sailors” played one really interesting game in which the teams changed the lead 16 times. The game started with an expected home team advantage, as [b]Levski[/b] closed the first 10 minutes with 4 points more – 22:18. In the second period, and in the third as well, the team from Varna controled the action on the floor, and the score was tied after 30 minutes of play. In the last quarter [b]Levski[/b] swept [b]Cherno More[/b] 27:13, and with that took the game – 84:70 final. [b]Stanislav Slaveykov[/b] was tonight’s MVP, finishing with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 36 minutes of play. [b]Veselin Veselinov[/b] added 12 points for the win, and the captain [b]Stefan Georgiev[/b] scored 10 and added 8 boards to his stats. His younger brother [b]Zlatin[/b] scored 16 points in 27 minutes off the bench, shooting 2/2 for 2 points, and 3/5 from three-point territory. American [b]Rob Preston[/b] started the game, and for 27 minutes on the floor scored only 6 points. The 206-cm tall former [b]Akron[/b] forward added 12 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks to his stats, along with two monster jams. For [b]Cherno More[/b], veteran [b]Leven Belberov[/b] scored the most points – 16. [b]Bogdan Boev[/b] added 15, alond with 4 rebounds. Serbian center [b]Aleksandar Bojic[/b] scored only 10 points, and had 9 rebounds, and [b]Atanas Radev[/b] finished with 12 points and 5 boards in 30 minutes. The starting point guard – [b]Vladimir Marinov[/b] ended up with 8 points, and his back-up [b]Plamen Aleksiev[/b] scored only 4. The second game from the best of 3 series is on Wednesday in Varna.
