Papaloukas to receive award for best european player
Greek star Theo Papaloukas will be receiving his custom-designed 2006 FIBA Europe Player of the Year award on 30 June during an exhibition game in Athens that features the 2005 EuroBasket champions Greece taking on a European All Star selection.
Papaloukas had a stellar 2006 season, highlighted by his performance at the FIBA World Championship in Japan.
The 2.00 m guard played a prominent role in Greece’s upset win over the United States in the semi-finals as he dished out 12 assists.
As a result of his overall play, Papaloukas won the 2006 FIBA Europe Player of the Year, which was determined by a fibaeurope.com fan vote (weighted to account for 30% of the total vote) and an expert panel (weighted to account for 70% of the total vote).
Papaloukas will look to continue his National Team legacy later this year at EuroBasket 2007.
