The team of Sliven assured their place among the best 10 teams as they beat Slavia with 81-63 tonight in Sports Complex in Pravets. A day before the end of the tournament, the three teams that will fill the “elite” group are already known. These are CSKA, Dunav 2007 and Sliven. The games that will be played tomorrow have to clear up which team what position in the final standing will take. This matters only for the schedule that the second and third teams will have during the first stage of the national championship. The winner of the game between CSKA and Sliven hosts the gold medalists Lukoil Academic next Wednesday when is the official opening of the new season.Tonight’s fight can be called such and was interesting for the spectators in Pravets only for the first 20 minutes. The players of Slavia performed great during the first half and even once they had an advantage of 7 points. However, 9 successful points in a row of Sliven gave them 2 advance on the break(36-34). When the third quarter started the things went to their correct place and Sliven went ahead again, this time to the same end of the game. The newly arrived in the lines of Sabin Marinov’s squad American – Lawrence Sharrett – acted tremendously. He scored 22 points ans grabbed 6 rebounds. Besides he did not miss 6 times from the 3-pointer-line. Nikolay Dinev added 19 points and his teammate Dimitar Georgiev – 17 points.For Slavia, the favourite of the local people – Lubomir Zhechev made quite a successful game. The former player of City University finished with a double-double - 22 points and 12 rebounds.
