Yambol started with a crushing defeat
The team of Yambol as if was sleeping in its first game of the national championship today. They were totally overplayed by Levski and lost with a disastrous difference of 28 points (52-80).
The beginning of the game did not predict such an end. The hosts played good and even were leading in the result. But this remained until the middle of the first quarter. After scoring their 12th points, some chaos appeared in the game of Yambol and they made quite an easy mistakes in offence. In defense, the scene was the same – Levski were left to get to the basket without any problems. The guests grabbed the given opportunity and made a 14-0 in a row. From then on, there was only one team on the court and its name was Levski. Only their own missed shots prevented the difference to be crushing on the half time yet.
After the break, Mitko Angelov and Kirilo Skumatov tried to wake up their teammates, but it was worthless. They both were the ones who knew that the game played on the ground was basketball. Yambol showed extremely low per cent from the free throw line – 5 from 17 attempts and 3/19 from the 3-pointer-line.
In the last period Ivan Cholakov put into play the reserves, having understood that everything was already lost.
Rob Preston and Rostislav Dikov punished the youngsters with a couple 3-pointers. For the team of Levski, Preston, Veselin Veselinov and Zlatin Georgiev finished with 13 points each. For the hosts of Yambol – Dimitar Angelov scored most – 23 points.
Levski demonstrated excellent team spirit and deserved to triumph at the end.
