Pini Gershon is the new coach of Bulgarian National team

Pini Gershon is the new coach of Bulgarian Men National team. This coming Sunday, December 9th at 12.00 o’clock in hotel Metropolitan in Athens he will signed a contract with Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Because of his duties with Olympiacos in Euroleague and Greek championship the agreement between both sides will take place in Greece.

In the beginning of October the president of BFB Atanas Tonev and executive director Ivan Tsenov met with israeli coach in Athens. The desire of the management of Bulgarian federation was Gershon to take over the Men’s National team. Now everything is all cleared, Gershon will coach Bulgaria.

Bulgarian National team will find out opponents for the qualifications for Eurobasket 2009 this coming February when is the draw in Venice, Italy. 17 teams will be divided in three groups by four teams and one group by five teams. The winners of each one of them plus the best three second placed teams will qualify for Eurobasket 2009 in Poland.

With acquisition of Pini Gershon the hopes for Bulgaria are that finally men’s team will get among the best teams in Europe and play at Eurobasket.
