Tomasevic to miss Top 16
After long-standing back problems kept him out for the last two months, Euroleague champion and Panathinaikos center Dejan Tomasevic underwent surgery Sunday to correct the problem and is expected to remain sidelined until March.
Tomasevic played his last Euroleague game in November 29, missing the next six Euroleague games. He is set to miss the entire Top 16 while recovering from surgery.
Tomasevic, who was a major factor for Panathinaikos in the 2007 Final Four, has averaged 1.5 points, 1.5 boards and 1.2 assists in his four Euroleague games this season. He played only one Greek League game all season, on opening day.
With Tomasevic out of action for so long, the Euroleague defending champion is expected to add one more big man to its roster.
