Deane rewarded with new contract extension

Deane will stay in Lukoil until end of the year

Just days before the ULEB CUP 32 playoff games begin; the player Willie Deane signed a valuable contract extension with the Bulgarian Club Lukoil Academic that ensures he remains with the club even after the ULEB CUP season unless a NBA or Euroleague team is willing to pay a buyout.

Deane who is the ULEB Cup regular season assist leader and ranks 9th in scoring is proving that he is one of the best point guards in Europe. He may be the best point guard anywhere in the world that is just starting to get some attention.

His agent, Craig McKenzie, of Higher Vision Sports says, "It didn't take me long to figure this out. Willie can shoot the long ball. He can defend. He is quick. He jumps over power position players and dunks. He can pass. What more do you want from a point guard. I won't be surprised to see him in the NBA next season or at least on one of the higher eschelon European Clubs."

His agent states that he is already fielding calls from NBA teams for the summer. Willie was the last cut this season with Washington Wizards.
