Levski won the bronze medals in the Bulgarian Cup
After losing the semi-finals against Cherno More, today Levski won the bronze medals in the Bulgarian “Ledenika” Cup after beating CSKA 78-77 thanks to Yulian Radionov who scored 6 seconds before the final whistle. That is a step back for Levski compared to last year’s edition of the tournament when they played at the final against Lukoil Academic. Lubomir Minchev’s players played well only in the first and the last quarters of the game, letting CSKA take the other two and giving them a real chance to win the bronze medals.
After the first 10 minutes Levski was leading 26-17 and everything seemed to be going as planned for the “blue” team. However in the next quarter CSKA took the initiative and totally outplayed Levski with 22-9, making the score 39-35 at the half-time. At the beginning of the second half CSKA was still the better team on the court and they won the third quarter 21-14 making it very difficult for their opponents before the final 10 minutes. After all Levski managed to cut the lead and luckily won the game with Radionov’s basket.
Stefan Georgiev scored 18 points for Levski before leaving the game for 5 personal fouls, while Asen Velikov added 13.
For CSKA Lavell Payne was the top scorer with 20 points and Georgi Davidov finished with 14. Both of them couldn’t finish the game because they also had to leave the court for 5 personal fouls.
