Asen Hristov: I believe in the future of the Balkan League
Balkan Internationall Basketball League (BIBL) announced today the signing of contract with new general sponsor Eurohold Bulgaria. The press conference was attended by Asen Hristov - the Chairman of the Council of Supervisors of Eurohold Bulgaria, the sports director of BIBL Shay Shtriks and executive director of Robert Gergov. Both sides agreed and will work together for the next three years. Teams from four different countries will play in BIBL for the next 2008/09 season.
“The budget is fully guaranteed despite the money weren’t the problem. I’m very happy that this competition is back again. There was a interest from seven different countries. We signed three year contract and this will be a new challenge for us”, said Asen Hristov. “Tournament like this one has a very good future. We had interest of advertising on the Balkans. I believe in the future of this competition, we are not doing something for day or two. Basketball as game is very emotional and I think has a good perspective in the region.”
Hristov also said that he expect full arenas in every single city where the games will be played. "We were little scare in the beginning regarding the transport but next year I hope four or even five other countries will be included as well – Greece, Turkey, Bosna and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Croatia. There was even inquiry from Ukraine. The teams that will participate in the first season of the league are very strong. The games will be interesting”, added the boss of Eurohold, company with lot of investment in sports in Bulgaria.
The opening game of new BIBL will be on October 7th in Samokov when Bulgarian Rilski Sportist host Serbian Mega Hypo Leasing at 18.00 o’clock local time. Games in Bulgaria will be broadcasted byt satellite channel of Bulgarian National Television while the TV stations in other countries will be announced very soon.
