Yambol crushed Sliven 118-81 in one of the games of the third round of NBL. The game was played in Diana Hall, but the home team was Sliven, who will play all of their games in until new year in Yambol because of construction works in Vasil Levski Hall in Sliven.
Scott O’Gallagher scored the most points for Yambol – 22 in just 22 minutes of play. Pavel Marinov was perfect from beyond the arc, scoring 5 out of 5 for a total of 19 points, while Martin Durchev (19 points) came off the bench and scored 4 times from three point territory. Ivan Cholakov’s whole team was shooting great – 15 out of 23 from three-point land – 65.2%.
Byron Sanders had his third double-double in NBL – 10 points and 11 rebounds.
For Sliven Giannis Otontsidis scored 18 points, while Jeremiah Boswell finished with 15, but he didn’t even try a three-pointer, after scoring 5 of those against Lukoil Academic on Tuesday.
The beginning was equal for both sides. Anyway after 8 lead changes Yambol was up 28:32 after 10 minutes of play.
After making some changes, Ivan Cholakov had a motivated team, playing good defense, and Yambol quickly took control of the game. Yambol outcame their opposition in the rebounds which lead to good fastbreaks. At halftime they were leading 47:65.
The second half wasn’t that much different, as Yambol was going up and up, leading by 30 and more points. The only question was how much after 100 points will the team score.
Sliven scored just 14 points in the last period for the final score 81:118.
