Rilski sportist beat Sliven for fourth win in NBL

In front of 100 basketball fans in Yambol Rilski Sportist managed to beat Sliven 97-69 and left them winless after this seventh round in National Basketball league in Bulgaria.

The first half was very close as the team of Sliven didn't allow the visitors to take a big lead. After bad first minutes the hosts managed to cut the deficit with good plays by Milen Dimitrov. They even took the lead in the 6th minute but only for 32 seconds. Rilski Sportist started to play better defense and regained the advantage and won the first quarter 20-23.

In the second the hosts started with zone defense which was good for them and their deficit went down from 8 to 2 points. Despite the big desire by Sliven they didn't succeed to take the lead again. Branko Mirkovic made the needed corections in attack and Rilski dealed well with the defense of the home team. Then there were some evenly matched minutes after which the first half ended with small advantage for the visitor, 43-50.

After the break the game continued to be close until 25th minute. Then the margin went up quickly from 9 to 15 points and this break the hopes of Sliven. From then on they were not capable of matching Rilski Sportist, as the visiting players showed good shooting from the three-point range. In the last quarter there was only one team on the court allowing Sliven to score only 10 points as the game ended 69-97.

For Sliven good game had Todor Tenev with 23 points and Milen Dimitrov with 15 and 10 rebounds.

For Rilski Sportist Dragoslav Papic was the top scorer with 22 points while Leven Belberov added 19.
