Rilski sportist moved up at the fourth in National Bulgarian League
Men’s team of Rilski Sportist moved up at the fourth place in National Basketball League as earlier today they beat as expected visiting Sliven by 92-54. Both teams, Euroins Cherno More and Rilski sportist have same amount of points but team from Samokov have superior advantage in the games between each other. The win was eight for Rilski Sportist in NBL and fourth position will give them much easier opponent at the quarterfinals of Cup of Bulgaria. They will not get any of those strong teams such are Lukoil Academic, Levski and Spartak Pleven.
The game didn’t started the way home team wanted to. After 10 minutes of play they led by only 2 points (15-13) while the visitors played well and stayed close for most of that time. Everything changed in the beginning of second quarter when Rilski Sportist had 11-0 run to put them up by double digit for the first time in the game. They started to play better in defense and despite that fact their lead at the half time break was only 14 points (38-24).
In the second half the players of head coach Aleksandar Todorov showed better offense and attractive way of play, scored 54 points and allowed only 30 to win at the end by 38 difference.
Head coach of home team used all of his available players as the most playing time received Aleksandar Gruev who needed to get back after his elbow injury from earlier of the season. Gruev was the best player for Rilski Sportist with 16 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for 33 minutes of playing time. Also coming from the bench, Dragoslav Papic managed 17 points and 4 rebounds while Travis Petereson ended with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Rilski Sportist bench outscored their regulars by 60 to 32. Totally different was the situation in Sliven as their starting line up managed 48 to 6 points against the reserves.
Todor Tenev scored 22 points and had 9 rebounds for the visiting team.
