One of the most talented female basketball players to have ever set foot in the Bulgarian league - American Danielle Page - has found herself a new team in Europe. She will play in Poland until the time comes to go back to the USA for another season in the WNBA. The Polish team in question is PTK Aflofarm Vicard Pabianice and it currently sits at the bottom of the table in the women league (PLKK) there. The team's league record is a miserable 2-16 and one part of the effort to make that much more respectable is the mid-season recruitment of quality players like Page.

A curious little fact - she comes to PTK Pabianice as a replacement for another young center, who used to play as a foreigner in the Bulgarian league (and even at the same club, where she was also replaced by Page) - Viktoria Mircheva. The former Ukrainian girls U-18 national team member has now moved to Galitskaya Akademia Ivano-Frankovsk in her home country and the Polish team inked the 6'2'' Page, who can perform at both the center and the power forward positions. She marked her debut at PTK Pabianice by leading the team in scoring (13 pts) and rebounds (7) in a 88-41 away defeat at the hands of FIBA EuroLeague participant Wisla Can-Pack Krakow.

The 22 year old Danielle Page, a Colorado Springs native, graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln last year, after 3 years of high level college basketball. She then joined the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. After the Sun were eliminated by the New York Liberty in the Eastern Conference Senifinals, Page came to Bulgaria, where she averaged 13.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 1.4 bpg in 11 Division A games from mid-October to mid-December. She was also twice the MVP of the Round - in the 2nd and 3rd round of the Women Division A regular season. She posted similar stats in 5 games in the Women FIBA EuroCup - 14.2 ppg and 6.2 rpg.

Here is what Danielle Page said for BulgarianBasket.com about her joining PTK Aflofarm Vicard Pabianice:
"Yes, I am in Poland right now. My agent hooked me up with this team. And we did play a game already - we played the best team in Poland and we lost. But its a great experience because I'm getting to explore a new culture and a new basketball league. So far I really like the city. I haven't had time to explore it too much but it seems really nice. My team seems really nice and they are very talented. Although I do miss my teammates back in Bulgaria and wish them all the best!"

It has also recently been announced that Page will return to the Connecticut Sun for the 2009 WNBA season, which starts on the 6th of June.
