Bulgaria won the first game of the Classification Round for 9th to 12th Places in U18 European Championship. The team overcame the German side 55:47 to play for the 9th place on Sunday.

Bulgaria scored the first points of the game and then Germany looked better in the court. The latter however could not score in the last 4 minutes of the period although they won it 12:10. Stanislav Tsonkov (191-G-91) tied the game at 12:12 and Bulgaria did not allow Germany to score in the first 8 minutes of the second period as well. After more than 10 minutes silence Danilo Barthel (205-F-91) gave Germany 13:19, while Ivanov posted for Bulgaria as they had 23:17 at the halftime. In the third period Germany bettered their position in scoring however could not reach the opponents. Mathis Monninghoff (198-G-92) made a three to close the third period at 43:33. In the last stanza the teams played even game, but Bulgaria saved their lead. Stanislav Tsonkov made it 49:41 and Planimir Dafinov (181-G-92) posted for 54:47. He made also the final score at 55:47 for the winners from the free throw line.

Emil Binev (198-F-91) led the way with 13 points, while Stanislav Tsonkov notched 11. Planimir Dafinov followed them with 10 points as Bulgaria U18 will hope for the higher place. Philipp Neumann (210-C-92) collected 16 points and 19 rebounds in defeat. Mathis Monninghoff posted 14 and Danilo Barthel had 11.
