San Antonio Spurs got closer to the NBA Final after taking a 3-1 Western Conference Final series lead by defeating Utah Jazz away 91-79.
Spurs went out in the lead early after 21-20 first quarter. In the second quarter the visitors managed to increase their advantage to 12 points at the break.
The third quarter was very good for Utah. They came out and showed they deserved to be there in the final winning by 11 points the third period.
So Utah went into the fourth quarter down 63-62 and was within 67-66 a few minutes later. Then Manu Ginobili hit a 3-pointer, Deron Williams went miss-turnover-miss on the Jazz's next three possessions and the Spurs soon were up by six points. The Jazz never got closer than four. Then San Antonio was up 79-72 when Ginobili got fouled attempting a 3-pointer with 3:57 left. He made all three, and the game was all but over.
Ginobili had very good game coming off the bench and finishing with 22 points, 15 coming in the fourth quarter and 11 of those coming from the foul line and 6 rebounds. Tim Duncan finished the game with 19 points and 11 boards. Deron Williams was the best player for Utah Jazz with 27 points and 10 assists but he received help only by Carlos Boozer who finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds as none from the other Jazz players scored more than 9 points.
