Strasbourg wants Donta Smith

The French team Strasbourg is interested in Donta Smith. US forward, who had a great half season with Lukoil Academic is on the list of players they want to hire for new upcoming season. Smith is currently with Toronto where he was on try out period during the last weekend.

Together with him the other players on try out camp are Stephen Graham, Matt Freije, Richie Frahm, Frank Williams and Dijon Thompson. The Raptors could only invite players who are free agents and no one who was on an NBA roster at the end of last season. Raptors’ GM Bryan Colangelo, senior executive Wayne Embry and coach Sam Mitchell are there to select from talented players.

Donta Smith played 23 games with Lukoil Academic last year and averaged 16.96 points plus 6.96 rebounds and 2.35 assists. He was in the middle of success for Lukoil in Cup of the country and local championship.
Strasbourg is champion of France for 2005. This year they were eliminate in first round of the playoffs when they lost 0-2 from Asvel Villeurbanne. Strasbourg will play in the following season in ULEB Cup. Last year they reached quarterfinals when they lost to the future finalist Lietufos Rytas.
