Croatian champion Cibona Zagreb announced Saturday that it has signed Puerto Rican guard Larry Ayuso and extended small forward Chris Warren's contract through 2009. The signings give Cibona two athletic and sharp shooting wing players to compliment each other.
Warren (196, 26) averaged 13.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 14 Euroleague games last season – his second with the club. He previously played in Mexico and Chile, before signing for Portuguese side Oliveirense in February 2005. Warren also had a stint with FMP in Serbia before joining Cibona in February 2006.
Ayuso (190, 33) played in Croatia for KK Split in the second half of last season and suited up for Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rico this summer. He has previous Euroleague experience with Zalgiris Kaunas, averaging 10.3 points in eight games two seasons ago. Ayuso has also played for Montegranaro in Italy, Ionikos in Greece, Besiktas in Turkey and Spartak St. Petersburg in Russia. On the international scene, Ayuso has represented Puerto Rico at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and at last summer's world championships in Japan, where he was tied for fourth is scoring with 21.2 points per game.
