The team of Dunav 2007 started the Qualifying Tournament for Men’s A-1 with a tremendous victory. They smashed Slavia with 89-54. From the same beginning of the game, the players from Ruse took an advantage and soon after that disarmed their opponents. Although one of the main players of Dunav 2007 Ivica Vukotic did not play, they did not have any problems with the young and less experienced team of Slavia. On the half time the difference was 25 points (51-26) and at the end of the third quarter became even 40 points (81-41). The guys from Dunav demonstrated good skills in offence and in defense did not let Slavia even to think they could do something more. During the last period, the head coach of Dunav 2007 Rumen Shopov put on the court his second roster and then the difference went down to 35 points.The bad news for today’s winners is the dislocated shoulder of their centre Todor Tenev. This happened in the last quarter and his participating until the end of the competition is not clear yet. Tomorrow Dunav 2007 will have the more difficult task against a more experienced team. Late in the evening they are facing CSKA.Ivan Nikolov was the one to score most for Dunav – 18 points, while Tmusic added 15 points. For the symbolic guests from Slavia only 3 players finished with 2-digits-result – Boyko Pangarov scored 18, Lubomir Zhechev – 13 and Yordan Yankov made 11 points. For Daniel Dimitrov and his team tomorrow will be a day to think over their strategy as they have a rest day in the second leg of the Qualifying Tournament. On Wednesday they face the "red squad" at 16.00 in Sports Complex in Pravets.
