In the second game of Day 1 of the Qualifying Tournament for Men’s A-1, the team of CSKA succeeded beating their opponents from Spartak MVR with 96-78. “The Reds” reached the advantage of 18 points at the same end of the game, but this did not happen so easily.“The Policemen” held the small difference during most of the time, but after a few unsuccessful attacks, the players of Rosen Barchovski went ahead. The difference did not pass the 2-digits-border most of the game and that made it very interesting for the audience that had come to watch the competition in Sports Complex Pravtes.
For Spartak MVR, Ivaylo Ravutsov who wore the jersey of the team especially for the tournament, performed great. The playmaker scored 30 points, 12 of which from the 3-poin-line, and added 7 assists. Ivan Tilev finished with 19 points.
A debut in the national championship of Bulgaria made the two Americans in the lines of CSKA – Michael Henderson and Lavell Payne. Although they both demonstrated excellent skills in offence, they made a lot of mistakes and seemed rather bad in defense. Pain scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as he missed only 2 of his shots. He also exalted the fans in the gym with some amasing dunks. His teammate Henderson could not handle with Ravutsov making him the best scorer of the day, but anyway he added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals for the red squad.

Tomorrow CSKA face the winner of the previous game – Dunav 2007 and Spartak MVR will struggle with the team of Sliven who had a rest day today.
