Rilski Sportist easy over CSKA, brilliant Peterson
Peterson ended with effciency of 56
Rilski Sportist defeated CSKA Interlogic away in the last game for both teams this year. In Hristo Botev hall in Sofia the visitors from Samokov won 100-83 and moved to 4th place in the standings before Spartak's game against Sliven tomorrow.
The game started with quick two points for "The Reds" but the visitors answered with 5 straight. In the next few minutes thanks to Milos Sakota and Sergey Tsvetkov the hosts took a 5-point lead. With minute and a half to go the score was tied but then CSKA went in front 21-19 after the first ten minutes.
In the second quarter Rilski Sportist started to play better defense and that showed on the scoreboard as they took the lead. They led 35-30 in the middle of the quarter and then finished the half with 14-5 run for a 14-point lead. One interesting fact is that Travis Peterson had double-double for only 20 minutes - 21 points and 10 rebounds.
After the break the team from Samokov continued to dominate and quickly increased the advantage. After 25 minutes of play the margin was 20 points and after three quarters was 21, 80-59. In the last quarter the teams played only to set the final score and the visitors won by 17 to finish the year in a nice way.
In the second half Peterson continued to dominate in the paint and added 17 points and 6 rebounds for a total of 38 and 16.
Other than Peterson, Bogdan Boev played well with 16 points as Lilov and Mirkovic both scored 11 adding also 6 and 7 assists respectively.
For the hosts again Milos Sakota was the best player with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Krum Doychinov and Nemanya Ilic scored 19 and 16 respectively.
After the last round in NBL this year CSKA is on 6th place with 3 wins and 8 losses and are ahead of Yambol only due to their win in their match. The first game for the new year will be between the two teams in Yambol while Rilski Sportist will have a tough task when hosting Euroins Cherno More in Arena Samokov on January 9th.
