Priest Lauderdale comes back to play in Bulgaria. The American giant who was the main reason the people crowded the basketball halls years ago will compete in the Bulgarian championship again. Lauderdale signed a contract with the team of Chernomorets and is going to play near the Black sea coast in season 2010/2011. The transfer became a fact because of the friendship between the center and one of the members of the board of the club Vlado Boyanov.
PL (222, 37) first came in Bulgaria in 2002 when he competed for Lukoil Academic. With his arrival began the dominance of the team in the Bulgarian championship and since then the club won 8 straight titles. Lauderdale was unstoppable on the low post and in his first year with Lukoil triumphed in both the domestic championship and the cup of the country. The team also won the title in FIBA Europe’s South Conference. The same year “The Students” lost the quarterfinal in the FIBA Europe championship to Aris.
Priest Lauderdale spent the entire next season with the champions and even got a Bulgarian passport in 2004. Soon after that he left the team and never came back. In the next few years PL played in several Arabic countries and China, where he showed his class. He finished the last season with Duhok from Iraq. The team played in the Asian club championship and Lauderdale averaged 15.8 points and 9.0 rebounds.
