Sliven surprised Rilski Sportist

The team of Sliven surprised their guests from Rilski Sportist and signed their second win this season. In a really tied game, the hosts celebrated the final success – 76-73. This was the second victory for head coach Sabin Marinov and his players since October 10 when they beat Dunav 2007 and after that registered 14 losses in a row.
The game did not start luckily for the visitors as their main playmaker Branko Mirkovic injured his shoulder and could take part only 6 minutes. The first period was even with many changes of the leadership. However, at its end the hosts were ahead with 3 points – 20-17.
During the second period, Rilski Sportist showed some of their skills and acted better. This resulted immediately on the scoreboard and after 20 minutes on court they were already leading by 2 – 39-37 on the half time.
In the third period nothing changed. Both teams were struggling and kept small difference. At the end again Sliven grabbed the leadership with 1 point before the final 10 minutes.
Traditionally in this tough game, both teams exchanged the leadership a couple of times during the fourth period as well. Fortunately for the players of Sabin Marinov and all their supporter in the hall, they were the ones to triumph after the final signal.
Stoyan Petkov was the one who gave body and soul for the deserved victory with his 29 points and 9 rebounds. Bosewell added 17 points, while Georgiev – 16.
For the visitors from Rilski Sportist the captain Aleksander Gruev again was at his marvelous level, scoring 29 points. Saraliiski added 13 points and Petrov 11 points. Miko Golubovic played below the expectations as he could not score in even one of his 14 attempts.
