Cherno More IG finished third at the end of 65th Men championship as they beat Spartak Pleven in the last game for the season 87 – 80.
Leven Belberov led five players in double figures with his 22 points while Aleksandar Bojic, Sinisa Avramovski and Vladimir Marinov ended with 15 points apiece.
Cherno More took the lead from the start and never allowed their opponents to get back in the game. Spartak Pleven cut the distance to 6 points with 2 minutes to go in the game (70-76). However the home team finished strong and won bronze medals.
It’s a big success for Cherno More IG as the team from Varna didn’t have home court advantage in the Playoffs 2007. However they surprised Levski in the First Round and as expected lost from Lukoil Academic in the Semifinals. The main goal for Cherno More IG was to finish third and they were able to achieve it. Lot of players left from last year’s runner up and to get third place with this roster it’s not bad at all.
Spartak Pleven finished fourth in Cup of Bulgaria back at March and matched the same at the end of League competition. Hrisimir Dimitrov scored 23 points and American Ed McCants added 21 for the visiting team.
After end of the Men Playoffs 2007 all eyes will be on Men National Team and their participation in Qualifications for Eurobasket 2007 in August this year.
