Bulgaria have got off the mark in their EuroBasket Women qualifying campaign with a 68-57 victory over Hungary in Rousse.

Domneka Hodges led the charge with 27 points - making 13 of 14 shots from the free throw line - as Bulgaria bounced back from their opening defeat to Turkey.

However, Hungary gave them a good run for their money, sticking close throughout the game before Bulgaria pulled away in the final minutes.

Hungary actually led, 49-48, with seven minutes to go, but Zoia Metodieva Stanoeva's three pointer put the hosts back on top and a Hodges jump shot gave them some breathing room.

That was the start of a 10-3 run that turned the game decisively in Bulgaria's favour as Ekaterina Dimitrova's free-throw put them on top 58-52 with 1:33 to go.

Jaklin Zlatanova added 17 points for the hosts.

Zsofia Fegyverneky led Hungary with 14 points while Tijana Krivacevic had 11 and Dora Horti 10 and 10 rebounds.

The win puts Bulgaria second in Group C while Hungary remain winless after two games.
