Despite a great performance by American Dionne Brown Lukoil Neftochimic is pushed to the wall after 62 – 78 loss to CSKA in Game 3 of the Finals in Women Playoffs 2007.
The home team of CSKA is one win away from winning the title and their third trophy for the season. Back in March they won Adriatic League and Cup of Bulgaria.
Dionne Brown scored 22 points and added 15 rebounds to complete double double but didn’t have that much of help from her teammates. Zornitsa Kostova with her 17 points was the only other player from Petko Marinov squad in double figures.
Tanja Cirov sparked the home team from the bench with her 19 points, the most for CSKA before she was fouled out late in the game. Teodora Petrova had 12 first half points without missing any shots to gave CSKA comfortable advantage at the half time (46-30).
Coach Georgi Bojkov gave Silvia Peeva extra minutes on the court and she absolutely proved her place in the lineup.
CSKA totally outplayed Lukoil Neftochimic and they are now just a victory away from winning the championship. In order to survive Lukoil Neftochimic need to win tomorrow night in Sofia to push the game to another match in Bourgas Wednesday night. Despite missing both American stars Tiffani Johnson and Latasha Byears CSKA is showing they are better than their opponents and right now the chances to win the league are in their favor.
Game 4 is Saturday night in Hristo Botev Hall in Sofia with 18.00 o’clock tip off. In the same time in Stara Zagora Dunav Econt will play against the home team Stara Zagora in Game 1 of the match for 3/4 place.
