Bulgarian Levski won their second game in row in Eurohold Balkan League and they kept very good chances to get among the best placed teams in group B at the end of competition. Today Levski defeated Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest 102-73 and after three straight losses at the start of Balkan league, now have record of 2-3. Visitors are last the table with only 1 win from 4 games played.

The game started with domination of Levski on both ends of the floor. The bad play of players in defense of coach Konstantin Papazov since the start of the season are history and as expected they started to win their games by big margin. Today at the half they held 20 points advantage scoring 46 versus 26 for the visitors.

However Dinamo started good after the break and series of 13 consecutive points cut the distance to only 7 (46-39). Coach Papazov took a time out and right after captain Stefan Georgiev scored a three pointer as Levski managed 11 points in row of his own for 57-46. In that moment visitors stopped to play and had no chance to get back in the game. At the end of third quarter Levski had 19 points lead – 74-55.

Last quarter only confirmed the victory by home team and the final score was 102-73.

Both teams showed very good 3-point shooting touch managing 23 succesful shots behind the arc. Levski were 12 of 24 (50 %) while Dinamo Bucharest 42.3 % (11/26). Best actors scoring behind the 3-point line were Viorel Mocanu – 5 of 6 and Marcus Hall and Asen Velikov from home team with 4 and 3 good shots from long distance.

Hall once again was the best scorer for Levski with 26 points and added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Velikov managed 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Very good from the bench played Nikolay Varbanov and Tsvetelin Ivanov, both scoring 14 points.

For the visiting team from Romania Mocanu ended with double double – 22 points and 10 rebounds while Macedonian Kiril Pavlovski left the court with 12 points.

Next game Levski will play at the end of January when they will face other Bulgarian team Rilski sportist in Sofia. Beside that game. The players of Papazov will visit Fersped Rabotnicki in Skopje and Dinamo in Bucharest. Three of three wins will most likely secure them first place in regular season of Group B in Eurohold Balkan League.

Dinamo Bucharest have four games left and next week will play at home versus Fersped Rabotnicki. Romanians have no place for mistakes anymore and have to win some games to secure place in quarterfinals.
