Levski snaps up Arnas Kazlauskas as well

Another new addition for Levski today, just hours before the transfer deadline in NBL, is experienced Lithuanian post player Arnas Kazlauskas, says Levski's official website Levskibasket.com. Kazlauskas will be very much welcome into the team's rotation, as otherwise head coach Titi Papazov would have been left with too little to work with in the front court. Centers Vasil Evtimov and Nikolay Varbanov left the team earlier in the season, power forward Petroslav Zafirov was not offered a new deal, while another power forward - youngster Tsvetelin Ivanov - suffered a nasty injury (arm fracture). Now Papazov has 4 quality big men though, as new acquisitions Boyko Mladenov and Arnas Kazlauskas join Stefan "Toro" Georgiev and veteran Dwayne Morton.
32 year old Arnas Kazlauskas has huge European experience, having played for 14 different teams across the continent and one in China. Those include Sakalai Vilnius and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in his native Lithuania, Legia Warsaw in Poland (2001/02), as well as short spells at Shangdong Bulls (China), WBC Wels (Austria), Aveiro (Portugal), GS Larissa (Greece), Nevezis Kedainiai (Lithuania) and Benetton Fribourg Olympic (Switzerland). Then he stayed for longer periods in two Ukrainian teams - Azovmash Mariupol (2004-2006) and Cherkaski Mavpy (2006/07). Last season he was in Hungary with Falco KC Szombathely, posting impressive averages of 19.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.5 spg, as well as some fine shooting percentages - 59.0% 2 FG and 50.8% from behind the arc. Kazlauskas started this season at Carmatic Pistoia in the Italian Lega Due, but now he is the latest new player in the Levski line-up.
