Rising Russian star Dmitri Khvostov has been summoned to the senior national team for the first time.
The 17-year-old Dynamo Moscow and youth international guard will attend a Russia training camp that starts in Moscow on July 23.

Russia general manager Sergei Tarakanov told the Sport-Express newspaper that Khvostov′s call-up was owed to the shortage of players in his position.

"Khvostov can play for four national teams this season. The senior team, the U20 team and the youth and student teams. But the first priority is the interests of the A-Team. If David Blatt (national coach) takes Dmitri Khvostov for the second training camp that will be held from August 2 until August 12 among 14 players, it means Dmitri will miss the U18 European Championship in Spain. Taking into consideration shortage of guards in the national team, such a possibility is very high," he added.

Russia is in the group with Serbia, Greece and the last team that will qualify from additional qualifications for Eurobasket 2007 in Spain.
