Star-crossed shooting ace Arvydas Macijauskas of Olympiacos is not expected to start the 2008-09 Euroleague season on time due to a fractured foot, the club confirmed.

Macijauskas, who missed 31 of the team's 45 Euroleague games over the last two seasons, is expected to be out of action three months. He was training on his own at home in Lithuania when the injury occurred. Macijuaskas was a 2004-05 All-Euroleague first team selection after finishing as the best scorer in that season's Top 16, with 20.1 points per game and leading Tau Ceramica to the Final Four. Tau upset host CSKA Moscow in the semifinals as Macijauskas scored 23 points and lost to Maccabi in the title game.

After one season in the NBA, he returned to the Euroleague with Olympiacos, but was injured in the pre-season and played only two playoff games, which the Reds lost to his old team, Tau Ceramica.

Last season, Macijuaskas started strong and was chosen the Euroleague's November MVP, but was injured in mid-season and scored only 4 points in three games of limited action when he returned, missing the team's last do-or-die playoff game in Moscow, a loss to eventual champions CSKA.
