Another swept series by defending champions

Lukoil Academic qualified for another Final of the Men Playoffs after dramatic 87-85 win over Cherno More IG in Varna.
Lukoil Academic scored the first 11 points in the game but allow Cherno More IG to come back and even finished first quarter on top 24 – 21. Lukoil Academic grabbed a 9 points fourth quarter lead five minutes before the end but thanks to Vladimir Marinov who gave energy from the bench Cherno More IG came back and tied the score in the last minute. Donta Smith made a layup with 3 seconds to go in the game to give two points advantage for the visitors. Then Plamen Aleksiev was fouled 2 seconds before the final buzzer but missed two free throws to tie the game and put it overtime.
Serbian center Aleksandar Bojic and young talent Nikolay Kolev both missed the game for Cherno More IG with injuries, while Mate Skelin did the same for the champions.
Sinisa Avramovski ended with double double – 25 points and 10 rebounds while his teammate Leven Belberov added 23 points.
Donta Smith and Todor Stoykov combined for 41 points, almost half of what Lukoil Academic managed totally to score.
Lukoil Academic will now face CSKA in rematch of 2004/05 Final. CSKA also swept the series against Spartak Pleven beating them 91 – 80 in Pleven. The Final playoff series are suppose to start on May 18 but there is possibility of moving the game for earlier date. Bulgarian Basketball Federation will decide if they will do that or leave the game as scheduled.
Cherno More IG will play versus Spartak Pleven in best of three series for the bronze medals in Men 65th championship.
