Final decision for the participants till July 15th

BIBL`s Sports Director Mr. Shay Shtriks commented the current situation with the clubs, which are going to participate in the first season of the international tournament.
"Yes, Strumica has problems with their two major sponsors.They contacted me personally. I spoke with Mr. Panagiotis Katsikaris and he promised to me, that up untill Jul 10th he`ll have financial solution. I told him that, because I respect him I believe, that Strumica is the right team for us. We can wait until 15.07 to see what is going to be the result. Meanwhile the Macedonian federation contacted me and offered other option. I told them that I`m not interested now for another option and I like to wait and see if and when Strumica will have the possibility. If not, we`ll take decision. It`s not obvious that if Strumica is out we`ll put in other team from F.Y.R. of Macedonia. Maybe we`ll take other team, even from Bulgaria. So, if Strumica is out it`s not sure that Macedonia will have another team. Any other rumor that Strumica is out from the Balkan league, it`s not true", said Shay Shtriks.
Regarding the Greek teams Mr. Shtriks added: "Yesterday I had a meeting there and people there are so busy with the Olympic games. What we know is that Olimpia Larissa requested for wild card in FIBA Cup and probably they will go there. PAOK is still in the picture, but this Friday there`s going to be a new management in the club. The team of AEL Larissa is possible option too. I informed the Greek federation, that we are waiting for them only and the deadline will be July 15. The Balkan league can survive without a Greek team. It`ll be more interesting, if we have a Greek team, but we have other options as well. Again - I prefer to have the Greek teams inside and I`m on the way now from Thessaloniki back to Sofia and they already called me from Thessaloniki that PAOK probably will like to meet me again next week. Now I`ll make a direct contact with the club. The people from the Greek federation asked me to do it. They`ll receive tomorrow official letter from the Balkan league, that they have time until July 15 and this letter will go to FIBA-Europe as well, because Mr. Vassilakopoulos is interested two teams from Greece to be inside. I like to give this chance, but we can`t wait more than July 15."
