An All-Euroleague second team selection switched teams on Wednesday, when Efes Pilsen announced that swingman Bootsy Thornton inked a one-year deal with the Turkish powerhouse.
Thornton (194, 30) arrives from Montepaschi Siena, where he averaged 10.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 24 Euroleague games last season. Not only did he help Montepaschi to win its second consecutive Italian League and reached the Euroleague Basketball Final Four, but Thornton also became the Euroleague's February MVP and was chosen to the All-Euroleague second team. He has also won another Italian League title and made it to another Euroleague Basketball Final Four with Montepaschi in 2004.
Thornton has also played for FC Barcelona and Akasvayu Girona in Spain, as well as for Cantu in Italy. He helped Barcelona to advance to the Euroleague Basketball Final Four in 2006 and won the FIBA EuroCup title with Akasvayu in 2007.
