36-th straight win for Lukoil Academic, 2-0 in semis

The team that nobody can beat in Bulgaria - Lukoil Academic - now have 36 victories in a row in the domestic championship (40, if you count the 4 wins they took to secure the Cup of Bulgaria) and they lead by 2-0 in their semifinal series of Playoffs 2008. They dispatched visiting Spartak Pleven even more emphatically the second time around - 104-77.
Each of Lukoil's starters scored at least 14 points, with the 5 of them responsible for 100 out of all 104 points in the game. Pero Antic had 26 of those, as well as 10 rebounds for a double double, while Nenad Canak notched up 23 points. Another double double was provided by American point guard Willie Deane, via 18 points and 10 assists. In Spartak Pleven's loss Hrisimir Dimitrov and Bozo Barac scored 24 and 19 points respectively.
The reigning champs didn't even need to spare too much defensive effort through most of the game's duration. They only played their best in the first couple of minutes to take a 10-0 lead, and then in the closing stages to open the near 30-point winning margin. Between those two bursts of energy the Lukoil players allowed the team from Pleven to score at will, but made sure they scored back; thus they led all the way through, never by less than 7 points and never by more than 16, until the fourth period. It was in those last 10 minutes that Zeljko Lukajic's team decided to get it finally over and done with and so they did.
Now all that is left for Lukoil Academic is to avoid an unlikely slip-up in their visit to Pleven, the game starting at 18.00 EET on Friday.
